Obituary for Mary Cressotti (Wojtowicz)

Mary Cressotti (Wojtowicz)
Mary “Murphy” Cressotti, 88, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 17, 2016.

Mary was born on April 8, 1928 in Hartford, where she lived until she married. Mary was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Zywocinska) Wojtowicz. Mary graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1946, and was a communicant of St. Robert’s Church for many years. Mary was employed by the Social Security Administration for 35 years until her retirement in 1989. Throughout her life, Mary was an active volunteer, being awarded many volunteer awards. Mary was a voracious reader and found much solitude in her books. Mary was active in many programs in her community of Windsor Locks: Run For Your Life, Senior Citizen Center -exercise classes, yoga, ceramics, knitting, and crocheting. Mary also was involved with the Windsor Locks Adult Education Senior Exercise classes with her late sister Jennie.

Mary found great joy in being with her family, especially the vacations at Cape Cod, to New Orleans with her sister Jennie, and most recently - her Saturday excursions to Geissler's and Target with her sister Irene and her son Bob.

Mary would often be seen on the sidelines of baseball and soccer fields, as well as basketball courts and swim meets, and auditoriums for drama productions as she enjoyed watching her children and then grandchildren participate in their activities. Mary followed her son, Bob’s baseball career and accomplishments for the past 51 years, through Windsor Locks Little League and Legion Baseball, to High School and ECSC Baseball and most recently - Fermi High School Baseball. Mary was proud to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their activities and was very proud of their accomplishments and professions. Mary was also an ‘artist’ and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to draw when they were young, hanging their artwork around her home.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, whom she spent many loving and fun years with, Francis Cressotti, and her son John F. Cressotti. Mary is survived by a daughter, and son and daughter-in-law, Patricia Cressotti of Windsor Locks, Robert and Marilynn Cressotti of Enfield, and a sister, Irene Hubinger of Windsor. Mary leaves her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jamie and Paul Drzyzga, Abbie Bennis, Samantha Cressotti, and Bryan Cressotti, Sage and Eden Bennis, and Hannah, Joseph, and James Drzyzga. Mary also leaves a brother-in-law and his wife, Richard and Nancy Cressotti of Florida and many nieces and nephews from around the country.
