Donald C.  Blomquist
Donald C. Blomquist, 81, of Windsor Locks and loving husband to Frances (Hamill) Blomquist, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Don was born May 23, 1935, in Worcester, MA the son of the late Samuel and Esther (Scherdell) Blomquist. He was born and raised in Worcester, MA and lived in West Springfield prior to moving to Windsor Locks where he has lived for over 52 years. Don retired in 1993 from Hamilton Standard after 40 years of dedicated service as a Technical Writer. He was a retired life member of the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over 25 years. He also served as Fire Commissioner for the Windsor Locks Fire Department and as the Fire Marshall. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending the summer months at their beach house in Matunuck, RI. In addition to his wife, Frances to whom he was married 59 years, Don is also survived by their three children, Steven Blomquist and his wife, Pamela of New Hartford, Karen Rhodes of East Granby and Alan Blomquist and his wife, Laurie of East Granby; four grandchildren, Lauren Noujaim and her husband, Nemer of Canton, Steven Blomquist of Somerville, MA, Courtney Blomquist of New Hartford and Samuel Rhodes of East Granby and a beloved great granddaughter, Natalie. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service celebrating Donald’s life will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 10 am at the East Granby Congregational Church, 9 Rainbow Rd., East Granby, CT. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks. Memorial contributions in memory of Donald may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489 or to the East Granby Congregational Church, 9 Rainbow Rd., East Granby, CT 06026.
