Obituary for Barbara Glennis Hopkins

Barbara Glennis Hopkins, 88, beloved wife of 57 years to the late Everett Hopkins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1928, in Providence, RI a daughter of the late WM. H. Harrison and Geneva Dell (Smith) Irons. Glennis was a resident of Cranston, RI for over eighty years and spent the last four years in Somers, CT with her daughter Donna. She was a member of the North Scituate Baptist Church, in Rhode Island, a life member of the O. E. S. Ruth Chapter NO.5, and served as Past Matron. She also was a member of the Grand Chapter of Rhode Island and served as Grand Adah and Grand Esther, a member of the Somers Senior Club, and the Somers Women's Auxiliary Buck-Dubiel Post 101. She enjoyed spending time with her family and entertaining, she was quite the hostess. Glennis is survived by her two children Wayne A. Hopkins and his wife Christine of Cranston, RI and Donna E. Hanks and her husband Scott of Somers; four grandchildren, Jason A. Hopkins and his wife Christina of Bristol, RI, Carrie E. Wolfe and her husband William of Pomfret Center, CT, Catherine E. Hanks of East Granby, and Christina E. Hanks of East Granby; two great grandchildren, Joseph W. Wolfe and Anthony J. Wolfe, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother William H.H. Irons, Jr., a sister Doris H. Morgan and her cat Molly. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 West Greenville Road, North Scituate. RI. Burial will follow in Hopkins Mills Cemetery, Foster, RI. Memorial donations may be made to the North Scituate Baptist Church, P.O. Box 427, North Scituate, RI 02857.
