Obituary for Thomas P. "Tom" Kealey

Thomas P. "Tom"  Kealey
Thomas P. Kealey, 88, of Enfield, loving husband of the late Sheila A. (Mooney) Kealey, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Parkway Pavilion. Tom was born March 11, 1928, in New Rochelle, NY the son of the late Thomas K. and Ann (McHale) Kealey. He proudly served in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Tom retired after 35 years from Combustion Engineering and after retiring he served several years on the State Transportation Accountability Board. Tom also served with Civil Preparedness for the town of Enfield for 20 years and on the Enfield Democratic Town Committee for many years. Tom was very proud of his Irish heritage and marched for many years in St. Patrick’s parades in Hartford. On Sunday mornings he loved listening to Irish music. Tom was an avid golfer and golfed in the Holy Family and the Combustion Engineering Golf Leagues. He was a voracious reader and big fan of the New York Giants. Tom is survived by his four children, Barbara Kealey, of Weatogue, Diane Zipoli and her husband, Richard, of Suffield, Thomas Kealey and his wife, Eva, of Enfield, and James Kealey of Enfield; his beloved grandchildren, Ryan Kealey and his wife, Meghan, Michelle Symington and husband, Gregg, Kristin O'Connor, John Kealey, and Samantha Zipoli; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Austin Symington and several nieces and nephews. Tom’s family would like to thank his caregiver, Rollande Champagne for the wonderful and compassionate care he received. Tom was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kealey Wetmore. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Enfield Food Shelf, P.O. Box 699 Enfield, CT 06083-699.
