Alfred Joseph Bologna, 92, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of the late Ann Bologna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1924, in Windsor Locks, CT; son of the late Battista and Francesca (Baiardi) Bologna. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Fred was employed by Roncari Industries where he worked for over 30 years and retired in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and a member of the VFW Smalley Brother Post 6123. Fred enjoyed fishing and gardening especially his tomatoes. He is survived by his three children, Terry Bellizzi and her husband Thomas of Windsor, David Bologna and his wife Karen of Enfield, and Alfred Bologna and his wife Diane of Suffield; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and a brother Raymond Bologna. Fred was predeceased by his 9 siblings, Geno, John, Louise, Pauline, Josephine, Sylvia, Gloria, Frances, and Muriel. Relatives and friends may join the family for a visitation on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A funeral procession will gather at 12:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks; CT. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Windsor Locks Food Pantry, 50 Church Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
