Alida J. “Jane” Barbieri, 95, of Enfield, CT, passed away peacefully at the Suffield House Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She was born July 31, 1921 in Hanover, NH and was the daughter of the late Harold Hansen and Emilie (Skinner) Hansen. Jane was raised in Miami, FL and Stafford Springs, CT. She was first employed as a fashion model for the former G. Fox and Company Department Store in Hartford, CT. After her marriage to her late husband Theodore “Ted” Barbieri she became a homemaker and faithful partner with Ted in the family bakery business “Home Style Bakery” Windsor Locks, CT. The family resided in Windsor Locks until the Bakery closed in the ‘70s and the family moved to Somers, CT. She was a dedicated and longtime member of the Windsor Locks Congregational Church and served as the past president of the Somers Women’s Club. In her free time she loved to play Bridge and enjoyed golfing, gardening and sewing. Her true joy was the time spent with her family, as she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband Ted Barbieri (1987). Jane is survived by her two children; her son, T. Mark Barbieri, Esq. and his wife, Nancy J. of Broad Brook, CT, and her daughter, Alida J. Barbieri of Ledyard, CT; three grandchildren, Jill Barbieri Belinky and her husband, Robert of Southport, CT, Jan Barbieri-Kent and her husband, Christopher of Montreal, Canada and Lindsay Alida Schoonmaker of Ledyard, CT and four great grandchildren, Max and Jackson Belinky, Violette and Eve Kent. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Donald “Don” Sauer and nieces and nephews. A private service will held at the convenience of the family.
