William A.  Richer Jr.
William A. "Bill" Richer, Jr. 80, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. Born in Stafford Springs, CT, April of 1937, Bill spent his early years in Scitico and Enfield CT, and his adult life in Southborough, MA. Bill was active in sports throughout his life and especially loved playing in softball tournaments. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. While there he traveled to the World's Fair, Copenhagen and Paris, his frequently visited favorite city. Bill loved traveling particularly to national parks and the Caribbean. He met Kathy Quinn at a school dance. They married in 1964 and had one son, Brian. Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Metropolitan College/Boston University graduating Magna Cum Laude. He worked for Dupont in Leominster, MA and Wilmington, DE and then joined Verizon, Computer Associates and other IT programming companies. Retiring to Florida, Bill and Kathy enjoyed walking on the beach and concerts at the wonderful JAX Symphony. Bill is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Quinn Richer, his son, Brian J. Richer,three sisters, Margaret Eckenbarger (Bruce), Beverly Purcell (Bill), and Judith Devine, uncles Andrew Richer and Fred Richer as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 2 pm 4 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018, at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jacksonville Symphony Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, 300 Water Street, Suite 200, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
