William S. Pettee, 86, of Somers, CT, widower of the late Stella (Dumas) Pettee, entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, March 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. William was born on December 10, 1931 in Rockland, Maine, the son of the late William S. and Gertrude (Lloyd) Pettee. William was a lifelong resident of Somers and the owner of Pettee Construction. He loved working on his equipment, competing in tractor pulls and he was a member of the Doodle Bugs Association. He found joy in hanging out with his companion, Ginny, watching MASH and North Woods Law, and paying visits to his hometown of Rockland, ME. William is survived by four children, Keith Pettee and his wife, Linda of Somers, Linda Mason and her husband, Perry of New Hampshire, Debbie King of East Windsor and Lisa King of Bristol; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Stella, he was predeceased by a son, Robert "Bob" Pettee and his wife Phyllis; a sister, Jenny Joseph; and a grandson, Jeremy "Jake" Mason. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation hours on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 10 am - 12 pm at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers, CT. A service in celebration of William's life will be held at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Somers West Cemetery. Donations in memory of William may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
