Obituary for William Nicholson

William  Nicholson
William Nicholson, 85, of Windsor Locks, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2018 surrounded by family at home after an extended battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Wassell) Nicholson and was born in West Pittson, Pennsylvania on June 28, 1932. William moved to Connecticut at an early age and resided in Windsor Locks for most of his life. After serving in the US Army, he began a long successful career as a Teamster union truck driver and union shop steward. He was known for his hard work ethic and strong sense of fairness. Upon his retirement, William relished spending time with his family and pursued his love of the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, and baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox baseball. He also enjoyed traveling all over the country in his RV and spending his winters at his southern home in Pompano Beach, Florida. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his first wife Joan (Albert) Nicholson, a son, Bruce Nicholson, a daughter, Patricia (Nicholson) Pacitti, a grandson, Kyle Nicholson, his second wife Mabel (Dahlke) Nicholson, and a brother, Earl Nicholson. He is survived and missed by two sons, Gary Nicholson of Branford, William Nicholson, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie of Billings, MT. Two brothers, Gerald Nicholson of Windsor Locks, Ronald Nicholson of East Hartford; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family.
