Obituary for Thomas H. Gwiazda

Thomas H. Gwiazda
Thomas Gwiazda, 59, of Enfield, loving husband of Catherine (Roberge) Gwiazda and affectionate dad of Dylan and Christina, exited this world suddenly on July 12, 2018. Born September 10, 1958 in Hartford, he was a lifelong resident of the Enfield community. Everyone who knew Tom quickly learned the meaning of enjoying life and of his commitment to family. He was so proud of his family and every moment of his life emulated that feature of his existence. It was love at first sight 34 years ago for Tom. He credited his life happiness and joy to his wife and best friend, Cathy. He had a special bond with his son Dylan and daughter Christina that was just remarkable and unbreakable. He treasured their partners Jennifer and Phil. It was a joy to be around Tom, and the room would light up when he entered. Tom had a way of always brightening up your day with a joke, a 30 second phone call, a pop-in visit, “just because that’s what family and friends do” or a text that you knew he was only thinking of you in the moment. He lived his life respecting everyone he was in contact with. He loved his work as a physical therapist because he was happiest helping people. He loved bowling, camping, boating, biking, skiing, cooking, and any activity involving his family and friends. He could also boast that he was an inventor. He leaves a huge void in the lives of his loving sisters and their families; Nancy Hammond of South Glastonbury, Jeff and Pat West of East Windsor, Dave and Mary Senatore of Enfield, Sharon Roberge Carey of Florida, and nieces and nephews, Kari Auretta and her son Simon, Shelly West, Jesse West, and Oliver Carey.Tom has rejoined his family in eternity, his parents, Henry and Ann Gwiazda; his in-laws, Norm and Flo Roberge; brother and sister-in-law Gary Hammond and Pam Roberge and so many aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. He will always remain in the hearts of each and every person that has had the pleasure of knowing him. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4 -7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Leete-Stevens. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
