Obituary for Hobart Theodore "Hobie" Stadtlander

Deacon Hobart T. "Hobie" Stadtlander, 93, of Enfield loving husband of 64 years to the late Margaret (Landau) Stadtlander entered into the Eternal Rest on Friday, September 21, 2018, at St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield. Hobie was born May 21, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Ernest L. and Mary (Humphrey) Stadtlander. Hobie proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed with H&B Tool in South Windsor as a tool and die maker for many years retiring in 1990. He was ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in 1988 and served as a Deacon at St. Bernard's Church for many years. Hobie was an active communicant of St. Bernard's Church and an active member of the Enfield community since 1958. He was a dedicated Deacon who loved serving others and preaching the word of God. He was involved in Boy Scouts for over 15 years and was the founding Scoutmaster of Troop 384. Hobie is survived by a son, Kenneth Stadtlander and his wife, Pauline; three grandchildren, Nikiah, Amber, and Erik; three great-grandchildren all of Chicopee, MA, and a niece. In addition to his wife he was also predeceased by a son, Ted Stadtlander and a brother, Ernest Stadtlander. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am at St. Joseph Residence, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Joseph’s Residence Chapel at 11 am. Deacon Hobie will be laid to rest with Military Honors in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
