Obituary for Richard C. York Sr.

Richard Compton "Dick" York, Sr., 85, of Windsor Locks loving husband of 65 years to Blanche (Moore) York entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. Richard was born February 1, 1930, in West Granville, MA the son of the late Richard and Mamie (Bradley) York. Dick was employed for many years as an automotive service manager until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle as a young man, going to stock car races and boating. Dick loved gatherings with his family and friends for dinners and playing cards. He was a snowbird spending the winter months in Florida where he looked forward to fishing along the seashore. In addition to his wife he is also survived by his two sons, Richard C. York, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Broad Brook and Robert S. York and his wife, Marie of Enfield; his grandchildren, Richard York III, Diana Walker, Susan York, Shanna York and William York and their families including four great granddaughters; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by a sister, Mary Beaulieu; a sister-in-law, Pauline Peters and her husband, Bob and brother-in-law, Mario Palumbo. Dick's family would like to thank everyone at CT Services of the Blind. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service in celebration of Dick's life will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The CT State Library of the Blind, 198 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
