Obituary for John C. Gallerani

John C. Gallerani, 91, beloved husband of Theresa (King) Gallerani of 64 years, died July, 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Windsor Locks, CT, he was the son of the late John P. and Margaret (Bieleski) Gallerani. John lived in Windsor Lock most of his life moving to Somers, CT in 1991. After his return from the Navy service, he was employed as a Planner at Hamilton Standard, in Windsor Locks, CT for 18 years and then owned and operated Slaybard’s Package store in Enfield, CT before retiring in 1982.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Lynn and her husband David Palmer of Somers and his treasured grandchildren Beth and her husband David LaFleche of Griswold, CT, Gregory and his long-time girlfriend Shea Anderson, Monica and John Palmer of Somers; his great-grandson Colton LaFleche; sister-in-law Margaret Fischer of Springfield, MA; brother-in-law James King of Dexter, ME and sister-in-law Judith King of Springfield; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Claudia Gotta, two brothers Francis and Robert Gallerani, his nephew Robert Gallerani, Jr., brother-in-law Joseph King and sister-in-law Eleanor Gotta.
John was a World War II Veteran, enlisting in the U.S. Navy at 17 years old and spent two years (1943-1945) in the European Theater Operation. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy with the rank of Petty Officer Third Class in May 1946. He was a charter member of the Veterans of the Foreign Wars Smalley Brothers Post No. 6123 and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 26 both of Windsor Locks.
Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Tuesday, July 19th from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at Saint Mary's Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT followed by burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary’s Church or Evergreen Health Care Center, 205 Chestnut Hill Rd, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
