Obituary for Margaret R. Bennett

Margaret "Peggy" Rita (Bennett) Bennett passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2018 at age 98. She was born on September 23, 1919 in Biddeford, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (O'Donnell) Bennett. She was the youngest of eight children (three boys and five girls) and was the last surviving sibling. She graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Mass, class of 1936. She moved to Enfield, CT after graduation where she met and married the love of her life, Wallace Orr Bennett. She worked as an inspector at Hamilton Standard and retired in 1982 after 32 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Enfield and Ionic Chapter No. 100, Order of the Eastern Star in Suffield. She was predeceased by her husband, Sgt. Wallace O. Bennett, Sr. of the Enfield Police Department; a son, Richard A. Bennett; and three grandsons. She is survived by a son, Wallace O. Bennett, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann and a daughter, Judy Riley, both of Enfield; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff in the B Wing at the Suffield House for their warm and compassionate care, especially Leigh, Octavia and Cathy. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation hours on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A service will be held at 11:00 am at Leete-Stevens. Burial will follow in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shiners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104.
