Obituary for Nanette Fay Olszewski (Hart)

Print
July 31, 1928, Nanette Fay Hart, our amazing mother and wife began her journey in Brighton, England where she was raised by her brothers and sister, served in WWII as a teletype operator, and dreamed of living the American Dream. And she did just that, crossing over peacefully and graciously on September 19, 2018. After meeting her soon to be Polish sailor of a husband in London, then reuniting in New York, Nanette married Jan Olszewski in 1950 and began raising their family in Hartford. By 1957, they were homeowners in Windsor Locks, and energetically embracing the community. Nanette volunteered as both Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. As Secretary of the WL Women's Auxiliary Group, she enthusiastically cheered on the 1965 Little League World Series Champions. In later years, Nanette also worked at the voting polls, and a reading mentor at South St. School. While her #1 job was raising a family, she also worked as a bookkeeper, and well into her 80's was working with TSA at Bradley International Airport. She excelled at it all, all ways. For relaxation, Nanette especially enjoyed shopping and lunching with Beth, Jeopardy, Scrabble, crosswords, water aerobics, reading and traveling. She loved the cruises, from the Caribbean to Alaska, from the Panama Canal to Bermuda. West coast kids gave her the joys of countless visits to Southern California, and the Pacific Northwest. More locally, annual vacations to Westport brought biking, beaching and good times. Nanette's joy, banter, and unmatchable wit will all be missed by all who have had the pleasure to cross paths; most off all, husband Jan, and children Paul (Helen) Olszewski, Beth (Jim) Lurate, and Anne Quade; her sister June (Nick), grands Matthew, Ian, Victoria, Christopher and Shane and 5 great grands. Having lived 90 blessed years, Nanette will be welcomed to eternity by a good many friends and family who have passed on before her. We thank God for the beautiful life he has graced Nanette with. We also thank the Suffield House and Masonicare teams for their gentle caring and support. Family will receive guests for visitation hours on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT.
