Obituary for Charlotte Gladys Dewley (Dengler)

Charlotte D. Dewley, 82, went home to be with her Lord on May 3, 2019 at a local rest home surrounded by her son and daughter. Charlotte was born May 7, 1936, the daughter of Raymond and Elsie Dengler.

Charlotte was mainly a homemaker raising her two children and ministering to the Lord in her churches, first at Calvary Baptist, Windsor Locks, CT and then at Bethany Baptist, Broad Brook, CT. She also enjoyed serving at Camp Northfield, Northfield, MA.

In 1962, Charlotte's father, Raymond, and husband, Dan, built their home in East Windsor from blueprints she had drawn up. They enjoyed many years there, hosting missionaries, friends and family for her legendary meals. After Dan's death in 1999, Charlotte 'downsized' to Enfield where she volunteered in the school system and at Enfield Public Library.

Charlotte "retired" in 2014 to Elim Park Place, Cheshire, CT where she enjoyed making new friends and living in a Christian environment. Charlotte enjoyed knitting and crocheting, teaching her grandchildren her skills and generously gifting her creations. Many couples have enjoyed receiving one of her custom made afghans over the years. Most recently, she donated lap afghans to the Health Care Center at Elim Park.

Charlotte was predeceased by her loving husband, Lewis Daniel and two sisters, Grace and Lorraine. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Sarah Stursberg and her husband Karl, of W. Suffield, CT, her son, Raymond Dewley and his wife, Becky, of Enfield, CT, two granddaughters, Laura Stursberg and Beka Dewley, and two grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel Dewley.
Charlotte is also survived by many Christian brothers and sisters who will miss her praying for them daily.

Calling hours will be held May 7 from 5-8 pm at Bethany Baptist, 278 N. Road, Broad Brook, CT, 06019.
A funeral service will be held May 8 at 10:30 am at Bethany Baptist, 278 N. Road, Broad Brook, CT, 06019.
Interment will be at Melrose Cemetery, Broad Brook, CT, immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to: Camp Northfield, 96 Wanamaker Road, Northfield, CT 01360 or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 www.jimmyfund.org/gift.
