Obituary for Joseph J. Zarzycki

Joseph J. Zarzycki, 87, of Enfield and loving husband of the late Catherine (Barnes) Zarzycki entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital. Joseph was born March 5, 1929, in the Thompsonville section of Enfield the son of the late Walenty and Sophie (Golas) Zarzycki. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon being discharged, Joseph began working as a weaver at the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Company. He then began working as the Maintenance Supervisor at the Suffield Academy retiring in 1990 after 30 years of employment. Joseph was very proud of his Polish heritage. During the 1960’s he served at the chairperson for the Polish National Home and was a parishioner of St. Adalbert’s Church and a member of parish council in the mid 1990’s. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Clarke and her husband, Jack of Bradenton Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Shirley Zarzycki and several other nieces and nephews. Joseph’s family would like to thank his caregivers, Susan Lee with Caring Solutions and Gail Michaud of Brightening Lives Home Care for the wonderful and compassionate care he received. Joseph was predeceased by his son, Edward Zarzycki; three brothers, Matthew, John and Stanley Zarzycki and three sisters, Helen Orszak, Viola Brown and Mary Hoginski. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 9 am to 10 am at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral procession will for at 10 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Adalbert’s Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery.
