Obituary for Walter J. Murkowicz

Walter J. Murkowicz, 97, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was born on December 31, 1920, the son of the late Paul and Anna (Petrowski) Murkowicz. Walter proudly served our country in World War II. He was employed with Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks for many years and later by Taylor and Fenn of Windsor. Walter was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Church, and later he began attending St. Robert Church in Windsor Locks. He enjoyed many Sunday walks to church along with his family. Walter was a member of the Connecticut Organic Farmers Association and participated in many farmers markets including one held at the State House in Hartford. Walter loved to garden and kept up his own for 40 years. Walter is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Marsh of Springfield, OH, Steven Murkowicz and Paul Murkowicz, both of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister, Jean Gatting; and four grandchildren, Anna Murkowicz of Bella Vista, CA, George Murkowicz of Flagstaff, AZ, Eric Marsh of Windsor Locks, CT, and Jeffrey Marsh of Springfield, OH. Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivian (Carlson) Murkowicz and nine brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 9:00 -11:00 am at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 S Elm St, Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
