Obituary for Lois Giannuzzi (Hilton)

Lois L. (Hilton) Giannuzzi, of Windsor Locks, beloved widow of Mario Giannuzzi and cherished mother of Nancy, Sandra and Susan, passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2017. Lois was the daughter of Dovie (Miley) Hilton and Troy Hilton. She was born in Mendenhall, Mississippi on November 22, 1922. Lois met Mario when he was stationed in the U. S. Army and they were married after he was discharged. They moved to Windsor Locks around 1945 and shared a beautiful life together for the next 70 years, never leaving Windsor Locks. Lois was a devoted wife and mother. She was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed gardening and being with her family, and any kind of family gathering. Her cat, Tommy, was also very dear to her. Lois will be forever missed by her three daughters, Nancy Matyskiela of Enfield, Sandra Chabot of Windsor Locks, and Susan Bodian and her husband Keith of Enfield. She leaves behind a sister and her husband, Lanora and Lavelle Brown of Oak Grove, Louisiana, and a brother and his wife, Laverne and Gennie Hilton of Greenville, SC. She was predeceased by a brother, Bye (Edwin) Hilton. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Josh Bodian, Kelly Pietraroia and her husband Mike, Amy Harris and her husband Todd, Paul Chabot, and Michelle Prindle and her husband Mike. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Levi, Christian, Brooke, Jesse, Hayden and Brian in addition to 2 great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Mom’s caretaker, Maia, and to Masonicare Hospice for their kindness and care throughout Mom’s illness. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 10am at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be a visitation period on Tuesday from 9:00-10:00am.
