Obituary for Edward E. Lanati

Edward E. Lanati, 86, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital. Ed was born March 27, 1932, the son of the late Attilio and Camilla (Portaluppi) Lanati. Ed proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a lifelong faithful parishioner of St. Mary Church. He retired from the Windsor Locks Board of Education where he was employed as the Principal of South Street Elementary School. Prior to becoming the Principal he taught 5th grade in both the Windsor Locks and the East Windsor school systems. Ed was proud to call Windsor Locks his hometown and stayed civically involved for many years until his health began to decline. He served for several years on the Windsor Locks Police Commission, the Republican Town Committee, he was a Justice of the Peace, served on the Board of Directors for Windsor Locks Federal Credit Union, he was a member of Riverside Council # 26 Knights of Columbus, and served as a Probation Officer for Windsor Locks for several years. Ed is survived by several cousins and friends. Visiting hours for Ed will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Friday, August 17, 2018, at 9 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Windsor Locks Lions Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 105, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
