Obituary for Willy Carl Zetterholm

Willy Carl Zetterholm
Willy C. Zetterholm,77, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Deborah E. (Haskins) Zetterholm passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on Tuesday July 25, 2017. Born in New York City, Willy was the son of the late Emil Zetterholm and Matilde Ferrari. Willy served honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex from 1957 – 1961. While still in the Navy, Willy met the love of his life, Debbie, on a blind date. They married, started a family and settled in Windsor Locks for over 40 years. Willy was employed at Pratt and Whitney, until retiring in 2002. Willy greatest passion, aside from being a “Grampy/GG Pa”, was teeing it up at Airways Golf Course and Country Club. He had one of the purest golf swings you’d ever seen amassing 3 holes in one over his 50+ years of golfing. He was a participant in the K of C league, the Airways Players Club and most especially the “Sunday Morning” group at Airways. Back in the day Willy was also a very talented bowler holding averages in the 190’s. He was also known to wear out his wife, daughter and sisters on the dance floor. Willy was also an avid fan of Boston Red Sox, UConn Husky men’s and woman’s basketball teams as well as the Boston Bruins. Willy especially enjoyed the many many cruises he and Debbie went on with Judy and George Sandone. Willy was also a friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Willy sadly leaves behind his children, Mark Zetterholm, Eric Zetterholm and his wife Sharren as well as Beth-Ann Kirkbride all of Enfield, CT. Grampy will also be sorely missed by his grandchildren Chelsea Post and her husband Tom, Jenna Boice and her husband Justin, Paige Scanlon and her husband Josh, Ryan Zetterholm as well as Sean, Lauren and Heather Kirkbride all of Enfield, CT. In addition GG Pa will also be missed by his great grandchildren, Hunter Scanlon, Alivia Boice and the soon to be McKinley Scanlon. Willy is survived by an extended family, which includes Judith Sandone and her husband George of Spring Hill, FL, Kathy McGarr and her husband Jim of Longmeadow, MA, Nora Santos and her husband George of Broad Brook, CT, Helen Margulis and the late Gordon Margulis of Oceanside, CA, Hilda Monfredo and her husband Peter of Roscoe, NY, David Ferrari Jr. and his wife Carol of East Windsor, CT Robert Ferrari of Windsor Locks, CT, Margaret Baxter of Las Vegas, NV and his brother-in-law Roger Haskins Jr. of West Springfield, MA. Willy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Willy is also survived by his very special “ladyfriend”, Hilde Heck with whom he spent the last 16 years of his life with. Willy was predeceased by his sisters and brother, Gloria Gilligan, Susan Coyle and Emil ‘Eddie’ Zetterholm. The family would like to give a special thank you to Donna Dow, of the Masonic Group for the exceptional care he received. Relatives and friend may join the family on Friday from 4-7pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 am from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road with a Mass at 9:30am at St. Patrick's Church, 64 Pearl Street, Enfield, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made, in Willy’s name, to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, 1-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
