Obituary for Robert G. "Bob" Rubner

Robert "Bob" Rubner, 85, of Enfield, CT entered into Eternal Rest on Friday February 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 17, 1932 in Springfield, MA, the son of the late William and Pauline (Paulkner) Rubner. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Salem during the Korean War alongside his brother, John. He worked for the former Cott Soda Corporation and retired from Omar Coffee Company in Newington after 25 years. Bob was an avid single rower under the direction of his father. He was on the crew team at AIC and in 1949 he won the Schoolboy Interscholastic singles rowing championship. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching the UCONN women, the Red Sox, and the NY Giants. Bob enjoyed fishing, and riding his bicycle in his younger years. He also loved to bowl and was on several leagues. Bob is survived by four children, Bob S. Rubner of Tolland, CT, Craig A. Rubner and his wife, Dawn of Dresden, ME, Sharon L. Torrey of Enfield, CT, and Scott F. Rubner and his wife, Betty of Enfield, CT; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his best four legged friend Buddy. In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, Sally Ann (Mortberg) Rubner, Bob was predeceased by two brothers, John Rubner and William Rubner. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
