Obituary for Michael R. Ferrara

Michael R. Ferrara, 61, of Windsor Locks entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, May 11, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary's Home in West Hartford. Michael was born May 9, 1957, in Hartford, CT the son of the late Robert A. and Florence (Fetko) Ferrara. Michael attended local schools and was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School Class of 1975. After high school, Michael attended hairdressing school and worked many years at different salons throughout West Hartford, Bloomfield and Windsor Locks. Michael loved dogs, reading, cooking for family and friends, especially during the holidays, and took great pride in his profession as a hairdresser. Michael is survived by his loving sister, Carmel Godfrey and her husband, Richard of Suffield; his brother, Joseph L. Ferrara of Windsor Locks; his best friend, John Butler and a nephew, Benjamin Godfrey. Michael also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins including Brenda and George Varney of North Granby, Dennis and Esther Fetko of Broad Brook, Josephine Fetko of East Windsor, GeorgieAnna Sombric of Manchester and Tina and Shirley Ferrara of Springfield, MA. Michael's family and friends would like to thank the nurses and nurses aides from St. Mary Home for the loving care that he received while he was there. They would also like to thank hospice nurse Hazel and social worker, Kat for their kindness and support during this most difficult time.. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather at 9:30 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Michael may be made to CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
