Obituary for Alma L Mead (Gilson)

Alma L. (Gilson) Mead, 85, beloved wife of the late James A. Mead, entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, July 11, 2008 at Evergreen Health Care in Stafford. Daughter of the late Malcolm and Elva (Nicol) Gilson, she was born in Boston, MA. She was a longtime resident of Enfield, and a member of St John’s Episcopal Church in Warehouse Point. Alma was an avid knitter and sewer, and challenged herself with many puzzles. In her spare time, she enjoyed nights out bowling at Shaker Lanes and Friday night square dancing at Powder Hollow Barn. Most of all, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alma is survived by her four children, Sandra McKenney of Spring Hill, FL., Richard Mead and his wife Ruth of Dunnellon, FL., Paula Pelkey and her husband David of Enfield, and Steven Mead and his wife Lynn of Bristol; her brother, Robert Gilson and his wife Rita of Wakefield, MA; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Gladys Bergman. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 17 from 4 -7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
