Elsie C.  Locke
Elsie (Colson) Locke, 86, of Enfield, loving wife of 50 years to the late Chester Locke entered into Eternal Rest in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Elsie was born August 10, 1931, in Springfield, MA the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Egan) Colson. Elsie was born in Springfield, MA, raised in West Suffield, and made her home in Enfield where Chester and Elsie raised their family. She retired as an administrative assistant with Boeing Aircraft in Windsor Locks after several years. Elsie was a longtime faithful member of the Hazardville Methodist Church where she would watch the children during Sunday School. She also crocheted prayer shawls along with a group of women for the church. Elsie was a member of the Enfield Senior Center where she took Tai Chi classes. She was a former member of the West Suffield Congregational Church and member of the West Suffield Grange. Elsie loved her travels, especially with her husband, her camp in Vermont, birding, and laughter...and she adored and was adored by her family. She is survived by her two sons, Paul Locke and his wife, Karen of Enfield, and Timothy Locke and his wife, Natalya of Stafford; her two beloved grandchildren, Spencer and Rebecca Locke of Enfield; her step-grandson, Dennis Alzahanov and his wife, Marina and their two children, Daniel and Diane all of North Carolina. Elsie is also survived by a brother, David Colson and his wife, Evelyn of West Suffield; her brothers-in-law, Robert Locke and his wife, Carol of MI, Edward Locke and his wife, Julia of Enfield; and her sisters-in-law, Elaine Colson of East Windsor and Edna Colson. Elsie was predeceased by four brothers, Basil Colson and his wife, Jane, Clifford Colson and his wife, Natalie, William Colson, Earl Colson and his wife, Joyce; four sisters, Beatrice Phelps and her husband, Jasper, Gertrude Greer and her husband, Robert, Claire Bailey and her husband, Paul and Ernestine Colson; a sister-in-law, Effy Slanetz and her husband, Arthur; a brother-in-law, Charles Locke and his wife, Gene. Elsie's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Suffield House for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 4 pm to7 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 10 am. Offiating will be Rev. David Williams. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in memory of Elsie may be made to the Hazardville Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
