Joan Sheehan Grigely of Enfield passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was born March 2, 1933 and graduated from Windsor Locks High School. Joan retired from the Department of Social Services in the Town of Enfield. She was a loyal friend, a nurturing big sister, a devoted mother of six children and a doting grandmother. Her family and friends know that there were no bounds to what she would do to support them. She was the loving wife of Wendell Louis Grigely who predeceased her in October 1995.

She was also predeceased by her siblings, Marian (Sheehan) Estra, Nancy Sheehan, Elaine (Sheehan) Smyth and Daniel Sheehan; her grandson Justin Grigely; and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Bridge) Grigely.

She is survived by her six children: Sharon Ann Grigely (husband, Terry Watkin), Wendell Louis Grigely, Jr., Timothy David Grigely (wife, Barbara), Thomas James Grigely (wife, Lori), David John Grigely (wife, Sara) and Paul Stewart Grigely (wife, Susan). She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Sheehan and Richard Sheehan; her grandchildren: Ami Watkin, Matthew Grigely (wife, Rachel), Adam Grigely, Peter Grigely (fiancée, Kelly Richards), Stephen Grigely (wife, Emily), Allison Grigely (fiancée, Tim Sledz), Megan (Grigely) Bengston (husband, Scott), Thomas Grigely Jr., Alexa Grigely, Maggie Grigely and Katie Grigely; her great-grandchildren: Koda Grigely and Madison Bengston; and her sister-in-law, Mae Grigely.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visitation hours from 5-8 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Saint Patrick Church, 64 Pearl Street, Enfield. (Please meet at the church.) Burial will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Broad Brook.
