Obituary for Irene F Worton (Wag)
Irene (Wagg) Worton, 93, beloved wife of the late James H. Worton, passed away peacefully at Suffield by the River on Sat, January 5, 2019. Irene was born on January 30, 1925, the adored daughter of the late Anna and Joseph Wagg. She was a lifelong resident of Enfield, graduating from Enfield High School in 1942. She then worked in the banking business, first at Thompsonville Trust, and then later at New England Bank and Trust. Irene was very social and made many friends throughout the years. She was a member of the Enfield/Suffield Polish Junior League, and HealthTrax Fitness, among others. She enjoyed many winters in Florida with her husband and friends after retirement.
Irene leaves her loving and devoted family; son Robert; beloved grandchildren who will miss their "Mimi", Michael (Kristen) and Lindsey; and treasured great-granddaughter Prescott. Irene was predeceased by her sister and lifelong best friend, Jane Turbak (late husband Henry). She leaves Jane's children and their families, Joanne Hannan (James), Marilyn Chaney (William) , John Turbak (Noreen), who loved her like a second mother. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Richard Worton, and many caring Worton nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by Jim's siblings, Robert, Barbara, and John.
The family would like to thank the staff at Suffield by the River, as well as VITAS Hospice, for their care and support of Irene. Burial is at the discretion of the family.
