Obituary for Dr. Judith L. Vaitukaitis

Dr. Judith L. Vaitukaitis, 78, of Suffield, CT passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Hartford Hospital. Judy was born August 29, 1940, in Hartford, CT the daughter of the late Albert G. and Julia (Woznikaitis) Vaitukaitus. She was raised in Windsor Locks and attended local schools. Judy received her B.S. in chemistry and biology from Tufts University in 1962 and earned her M.D. degree in 1966 from the Boston University School of Medicine. Judy completed her residency at Cornell Medical Services, Bellevue Memorial Hospital, New York City. She retired in 2005 from the National Institute of Health in Maryland as Senior Advisor on Scientific Infrastructure and Resources. Dr. Vaitukaitis was dedicated to her career, specializing in reproductive neuroendocrinologist and clinical research. She was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and the New York Giants. In her spare time she enjoyed a round of golf with her friends. Judy is survived by a sister, Ruth J. Vaitukaitis of Windsor Locks; a sister-in-law, Georgina Vaitukaitis of Essex, MD and many nieces, nephews, a great-niece and great-nephews. Judy was predeceased by a sister, Dolores V. Boland her husband, Robert G. Boland and her brother, Robert G. Vaitukaitis. Judy’s family would to thank her care-givers, Elizabeth, Gosia, and Josephine for the loving support and care given the past several years. The family would also like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of CB5 HOPE team for their compassionate and wonderful care given to Judy. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 11 am to 12 noon at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service for Judy will be celebrated at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Judy may be made to The Michael J.
