Jenet (Huderski) Hijeck, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Saint Francis Hospital with her husband and family by her side. Jenet grew up on her parents’ tobacco farm in Suffield and worked hard her entire life. She married her loving husband of 66 years, Walter Hijeck, and moved to Windsor Locks where they raised their three children. If you knew Jenet then you know she loved to cook for her family and friends. She learned from her mother that you always cook enough to satisfy everyone as well as enough in case there is unexpected company. In addition to cooking for a crowd and having family around, Jenet loved to fish in the ocean and enjoyed many seasons fishing with Walt on their boat, the Nancy Jane. Jenet is survived by her husband Walt, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steve Sheridan; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Genie Hijeck; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Joan Hijeck; her grandchildren and their spouses or partners: Amy and Joseph Appleton, Laura Sheridan and Tylon Chaney, and David and Lori Sheridan; Matthew, Suzanne, and Gregory Hijeck; Rob Magleora and Heather Quevillon, Catherine Hijeck, Megan Hijeck, Jeanna Magleora, and Chaz Hijeck; her brother-in-law, Chet Hijeck, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses, physicians and other staff at Saint Francis Hospital who cared for Jenet and especially her cardiologist, Dr. Carolyn Kosack. Calling hours will be Friday, November 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A procession will gather on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hill Street, Suffield, CT.
