Obituary for Judith R. "Judy" Brewster (Russell)

Judith Russell Brewster, beloved companion of 28 years to late George Dumas, peacefully passed away with family at her side on Friday, November 9, 2018 at MasoniCare of Wallingford. Daughter of the late John and Lucia Russell (Freeman), she was born on November 20, 1934 in Winchester, MA. Judy became a Registered Nurse with a BS degree from Cooley Dickinson. The ultimate volunteer, she was very involved with St. Mary’s Church and in the community with the town Fourth of July celebrations for many years. She won ribbons for her photographs and canning at the Four Town Fair. Something she was very proud of and affirmed her love for the people of Enfield. An enthusiastic tag sale shopper, she was always on the lookout for Sandwich glass and unique antiques. Judy was an avid fan of UCONN women’s basketball though sometimes couldn’t watch it for fear of jinxing the close games. Judy was a dedicated member of Rainbow Girls, Amaranth, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Red Hat ladies. She served many years as an officer, Grand Matron, Secretary, Treasurer, and State Representative roles. She served effortlessly, Judy loved to travel and celebrating the seasons with all the best of Hallmark. Judy is survived by her sister Marti Handel; her sons David Brewster and his wife Joan of TN; Bob Brewster and his wife Patricia (Trish) of FL, and Jim Brewster and his wife Lisa of Hamden; her grandchildren, Matthew Brewster, Sean O’Brien, and Brandon DiMichele. She was predeceased by her first husband Tom Brewster of Richwood, WV. God's speed Nana! Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield, CT. A funeral service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, following the visiting hours.
