Michael (Mike) Francis Cunningham passed away on November 23, 2018 at the age of 69. He was predeceased by his parents Harold P. Cunningham and Marion (Fahey) Cunningham. Mike is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years Monica B. Cunningham; his son Michael & partner Janet Goda and her two sons Ryan and Andrew; Michael’s two daughters Delanie and Gianna Cunningham; his brother Dennis Cunningham & wife Joan Parker; sisters Marie Georgetti, her husband Jerry; and Ellen Kaake, her husband Baird; brothers & sisters in-law William Brennan & Polly Smith, Mary Jane Mullen, Fran & John Ham, and David & Ann Brennan; along with 12 nieces & nephews and 5 great-nieces and nephews.

Mike was a long time resident of Enfield, CT attending St. Joseph’s School and Enfield High School where he starred as a pitcher on the baseball team. Mike went on to attend the University of Connecticut, where he met his wife Monica. Upon graduation from UCONN, Mike joined Enfield Federal Savings & Loan where he worked for 28 years, first as a mortgage loan officer and later Vice President.

Mike shared a lifelong passion for sports, the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and UCONN basketball. For many years he played men’s league softball at Brainard Park, and enjoyed fly fishing the many Massachusetts and Connecticut streams. Mike spent countless hours over many years in the Enfield Twin Rinks and other rinks throughout New England watching his son Michael play hockey for the Springfield Pics and Suffield High School. Mike also briefly served on the Northern Connecticut Flyers Hockey Team Board of Directors.
Mike’s recent years were spent with Monica in Marlborough, MA, Hilton Head Island, SC, and travelling to Virginia to enjoy spending time with his granddaughters and watching their music recitals, school plays, and sports such as swimming, track, basketball.

Mike’s family will receive relatives and friends on November 30, 2018 from 6-8pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. Family and friends will gather on December 1, 2018 at 9am at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels for a procession to St. Patrick Church where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s King St Cemetery.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to both the Dana Farber Institute and Brigham & Women’s Hospital for providing loving care to our husband, dad, granddad, brother, uncle and grand uncle.
