Obituary for Donald A Davis

Donald A. Davis, 83, of Enfield, beloved husband of 60 years to Assunta (Sue) Pizzo Davis, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family . He was born on March 13, 1935, son of the late Samuel and Camella (Paoletta) Davis. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He had a career as a Correctional Officer for the Connecticut State Prison for 20 years. He was a long time resident of Enfield and a member of Holy Family Church. Upon his retirement, Donald served his community as a volunteer at the Enfield Senior Center and the Enfield Food Shelf. He was also known for his famous vegetable garden which yielded the best tomatoes in town. Donald is survived by his children, Marie Raines and her husband Donald of Enfield, Angela Devine and her husband Ronald of Suffield, Thomas Davis and his wife Lori of Enfield, and Paul Davis of Ellington; his grandchildren, Justin Helferich and his wife Hilary, Julie Helferich, Michael Devine and his wife Jordan, Tyler Devine, and Kerry Lynn Davis; his sisters, Beverly Belliveau and her husband Richard of SC, and Gloria Powers and her husband Michael of MA, and many nieces and nephews His family would like to thank Dr Stephen Firshein and his team, the Hospice team, and the medical staff at Hartford Hospital for their excellent care of Donald during his illness. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd, Enfield, CT. Please meet at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Patrick’s King St Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
