Obituary for Laura T. O'Brien (Amero)

Laura T. (Amero) O’Brien, 88, of Windsor Locks, wife of 56 years to the late Robert F. “OB” O’Brien entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 5, 2019 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Laura was born August 12, 1930, in Howlan ME the daughter of the late Delbert and Rose (Potvin) Amero. Laura was a faithful parishioner of Mary, Gate of Heaven Parishes and a longtime member of the Small Christian Communities prayer group. She enjoyed traveling with her sister, Phyllis to many different sacred shrines and pilgrimages, senior trips, and most recently at 86, her first time overseas to Ireland. While her daughters were growing up, Laura was very active in Girl Scouts and a girl scout leader for several years. Laura was a devoted fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball. She retired from Aetna in 1993 after 23 years working in Medical Records. Laura will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her four daughters, Suzanne O’Brien, Barbara Carlson and her husband, Glenn, Doreen LeBlanc and her husband, Brian, and Lori Walters and her husband, John all of Windsor Locks; her five beloved grandchildren, Heather Baker, Michelle, Patrick, and Jennifer Walters all of Windsor Locks and Melissa Brynes and her husband, Tom of Marlborough, MA; her four loving great-grandchildren, Nicolas Barcome, Jacob, Carson, and Reagan Brynes; her sisters, Phyllis Amero of Windsor Locks, Betty Davis of Manchester, CT; two brothers, Louis Amero of Presque Isles, ME and Donald Amero and his companion Gayle Handy of Woodstock, VT and several nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by a sister, Claire Jacques. Her family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Sporn, MD, Pat Nugent, PA and the staff of Trinity of New England for their exceptional care and support. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St, Windsor Locks. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Laura’s memory may be made to Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks CT 06096.
