Obituary for Robert J Guilmette

Robert J. Guilmette, 93, of East Longmeadow, MA, beloved husband of over 60 years to the late Doris (Butler) Guilmette, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Alphonse and Margaret (Corcoran) Guilmette, he was born on May 8, 1925 and grew up in Hampden, MA. Robert proudly served his country as a P-51 Mustang pilot in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He enjoyed a long career as a tool and dye maker. In his free time he enjoyed many sporting activities. He especially enjoyed fishing, often taking his expeditions to Canada. He was also a very active member of the East Longmeadow Lions Club, and a member of the ‘Harmonicats’. Robert will be remembered as a social man who injected a bit of fun into all the events in which he participated. He is survived by his children, Gary Guilmette and his wife Linda of East Longmeadow, and Leslie Mancuso and her husband John of Enfield ; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Tyler Guilmette, and Allison and Christopher Mancuso, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral procession will gather on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 9:00 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Catherine's Church.
