Obituary for Chief Ronald G. Marcotte Sr. (Retired Enfield Police Dept.)

Chief Ronald G. Marcotte, Sr. (Retired Enfield Police Dept.), 71, of Enfield, beloved husband of Susan (Duprey) Marcotte for 52 years, entered into eternal peace Thursday, January 3, 2019 with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Gerald R. Marcotte and Doris A. (Boisvert) Marcotte. A graduate of Enfield High School Class of '65, Chief Marcotte was a lifelong resident of the Enfield community. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Western New England College earning a B.S. and M.S. in Criminal Justice. He later graduated from the FBI Academy in 1996. Dedicated to his community and their safety, he proudly served on the Enfield Police Department for 36 years, retiring as Police Chief in 2005. He worked his way upward from Patrolman starting in 1969, becoming Sergeant in 1976, Lieutenant in 1978, Captain in 1984, Deputy Chief in 1991, and Police Chief in 1994. As devoted as he was to being a Police Officer, his faith and family were most important to him.
Besides his wife Susan, he is survived by three loving children, Ronald G. Marcotte Jr. and his wife Andrea, and their children Joseph, Sara, Jessica, and Megan of Enfield, Christopher Marcotte and his children Devyn and Mykenah of Enfield, Shelley Carbone and her husband John, and their children Clayton, Mia, Madilyn, and Trey of Wethersfield, a brother Robert Marcotte and his wife Paula of Enfield, two sisters Jeannine Marcotte of Enfield, and Patricia Durocher and her husband Roland of Scottsdale, Arizona. He was predeceased by a brother, James Marcotte. He also leaves several nephews and extended family. He was a member of "The Breakfast Club" and leaves them, and many close, loyal friends especially John Porcello, Thomas Tyler, Robert Boula, and Thomas Heath, to name a few. Chief Marcotte's family wishes to thank his caring team of doctors, and the staff at Parkway Pavilion for their unwavering care and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, January 7, 2019, at Holy Family Church (Please meet at Church), 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Committal, with military honors and Enfield Police Dept. honors, will follow at Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chief Marcotteā€˜s name may be made to the Ronald G.
