Mildred (Cieslak) Gerich, 91, of Somers was reunited with her husband of 70 years, Gardner F. Gerich on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born March 15, 1927, in Chicopee, MA the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Niemic) Cieslak. Mildred and Gardner were united in Holy Matrimony on November 11, 1948. She worked alongside Gardner as the Bookkeeper for the Somersville Citgo Station from 1970 to 1980 and then the Sunoco Station in Springfield on the corner of Allen St. and Cooley St. Mildred was a parishioner of All Saints Church in Somersville and member of the Somers Senior Center. When her daughters where growing up she volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning the fruits of her hard labor. Mildred is survived by three daughters, Pamela Skirvan and her husband, Theodore of Concord, VA, Petty Gresh and her husband, Thomas of Springfield, VT and Melonie Gerich of Somers; his grandchildren, Risa Bazinet and her partner, William Roy of Willington, CT, Gardner Nadeau and his partner, Shania Sakaske of Ludlow, MA, William Gresh of Mansfield, Emily Gresh of Glastonbury, Lara Goldstein and her husband, Ryan of Mansfield, Teddy John Skirvan and his wife, Christine of Barnstable, MA; two great-grandchildren, Ian and Sean Skirvan. Mildred was predeceased by three brothers, Maurice, Edward, and Eugene Cieslak and a sister, Sally Gelardi. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Monday, January 21, 2019, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., (Route 190) Somers, CT. A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 9 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at All Saints Church in Somersville.
