Obituary for Marion R. Richard

Marion (Morrissey) Richard, 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 14, 1944, in Springfield, MA, to Everett and Marion Rita (Turner) Morrissey. She was married to Raymond Richard on September 15, 1961. She was a graduate and honor student at Cathedral High School. She worked in various positions within CBT, Fleet & Bank of America rising to the position of VP and Assistant Treasurer. She received an Associate degree from Williams College, Williamstown, MA in addition to several banking certifications from the American Institute of Banking. She had a wonderful knack for numbers and solving problems.

When she retired from the bank, she served on the Somers Economic Development Committee, and was a member of the North Central Connecticut Professional Business Women’s Association of Enfield and served as Chairwomen of the Scholarship Board.

Marion was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her girls and embraced every moment with them. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, reading, and spending time in her gardens. Marion had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; sisters, Kathleen Walsh; Anne and husband Bernie Cloutier; her four daughters Cheryl and husband Big John Boudreaux; Gail and husband Richard Kulas; Michele and husband Ken Prior; Karen and husband Blaine Buck all of Somers. Marion also has 8 grandchildren, Tony Santacaterina and wife Katie, John Boudreaux Jr. and wife Heather, Robin Gauthier, Kendle Taylor and fiancé Gabby, Christyn Kulas, Elizabeth Kulas, Sean Prior and wife Megan, and Ryan Buck: plus 6 great-grandchildren; Cody, Kayleigh, Parker, Aleigha, Chloe, and Liam.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Marion touched are invited to the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St, Somers, CT, from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, January 19th followed by a Celebration of Marion’s life at 5 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Marion requests that donations be made to the Friends of Somers Library.
