Joan L. (Murphy) Holmes, 93, of Suffield, CT loving wife of 24 years to Harry Dean Holmes entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at home with her family by her side. Joan was born in Rockville Centre, LI NY the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Hoey) Murphy. After High School, Joan attended the Aloysia Hardey School of Nursing, Manhattanville College, New York, NY where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse. She is survived by three children, Richard Carnes of Freemont, CA, Anne Carnes of Portland, OR and Naomi Carnes of Ann Arbor, MI; four step-children, Ted Holmes and his wife, Paula of North Granby, CT, Bobbie Johnson and her husband, Phil of West Suffield, Lenny Holmes and his wife, Andrea of West Suffield and Margie Sabin of Victor, NY, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by a son, James Carnes; a sister, Doris Jane Hutchins; a step-son, Brian Holmes and a step-daughter Mimi Edmonds. There are no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Windsor Locks Funeral Home.
