Obituary for Ann K. Duren (Egbert)

Ann K. (Egbert) Duren, 87, of Enfield, beloved wife of 66 years to Charles A. Duren, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Springfield, MA on June 5, 1933, daughter of the late Harry and Kathleen (Andrews) Egbert. Ann received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Westfield State College. Her teaching career included full time positions in Kentucky and Agawam, MA, and she was also a substitute teacher in Enfield for many years. Ann was a member of the Enfield Library Board, the Republican Town Committee, and served as a Justice of the Peace. She loved to garden and was especially fond of African Violets. Ann was a devoted fan of the UConn women’s basketball team and all Boston sports teams. She also adored Boston Terriers who were her faithful companions over the years.

In addition to her beloved husband and college sweetheart, Charles, Ann is survived by her daughters, Kathleen White and her husband David of Laconia, NH, Deborah Duren and her husband Paul Faille of Enfield, and Nancy Russo and her husband Joseph of New Bern, NC; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Legault of Boston, MA; Jeffrey White and his wife Jenny of Clinton, MA, Gina Russo of Sherman, and Matthew Russo of New Bern, NC; her great grandson, Jackson White; and her sister Arlene Bowler and her husband Patrick of East Harwich, MA.

Ann’s family will receive relatives and friend from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, April, 30, 2021 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hazardville Cemetery.
