Obituary for Annette "Nettie" Jacewicz (Santos)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Annette “Nettie” Jacewicz, of Enfield, who lost her long struggle with ovarian cancer.  Annette passed at her home surrounded by family on August 26th.   If there is such a thing as an angel flying too close to the ground, it was she.  Annette dealt most of her life with serious health issues involving her heart, and then ovarian cancer.  She had a warrior’s spirit housed in a petite frame.  She was incredibly beautiful inside and out.  She could laugh at anything and made friends with ease.  She experienced more than anyone’s share of bad breaks in life, but never let it get her down.  Annette understood the frailty of her existence and truly cherished every day she had.  She battled through every adversity, until the cancer finally won, and she was the most wonderful wife, friend and partner any man could ever have. She was born on April 11, 1957, in Hartford to Henry and Elizabeth Santos.  She graduated from Windsor High School and worked many years as a background investigator for The Hartford Financial Services.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Frank, and an infant sister Denise.  She is survived by her husband John, and sisters, Marina Flodine, Ria Stolarz, Bella Caldara, Gloria Komar, and brother Henry Santos.  She had very special relationships and friendship with her sister Marina (Beana), brother-in-law Brett Flodine, niece Holly Benard, Mandi Jacewicz, Steve Gondar, brother Henry Santos, his wife Maria and their children Joey and Juliana, Tim and Cindy Barry, Colette and George Doody and John and Kristine Sawka.  They were the people who were always there for her during her most difficult days.

She also had a great fondness for her wonderful group of friends at the Enfield Panera’s, Charlie, Alva, Tony, Jim, Joe, Bob, Karen, Mike George, Rich, Sandy, Arnie, Linda and the others.  She considered them her “family”.   Annette was also warmly embraced by the State Police Alumni family, she loved going to the reunions.  Les and Pat Forst, John and Mary Ellen Mulligan always made her part of that family.  Annette had very special friends in SJ, Cindy, Doug and Lauri.  She is also survived by a daughter, Jessica Orr, her husband David and three grandchildren, who she adored: Jack, Emma, and Jillian.

The family would like to extend their very special appreciation for Dr. Elena Ratner, PA Nesrine Khoury, Dr. Sabet Hashim, Dr. Thomas Donohue, Dr. Nimrod Lavi and Dr. Jeromy Kortmansky of Yale-New Haven Hospital and Rosie Banks of that organization, along with PA Alexa Swan of Starline Physicians.  They all went above and beyond for Annette and their kindness and special care will be remembered always.  To say they were extraordinary would woefully understate the level of skill, kindness, and care they provided.  In lieu of flowers please have a meal or drink with someone special to you and share a memory about Annette.  That is truly what she would have wanted.  Having wonderful friends meant the world to her and in that regard she was truly blessed.
Visitation hours will be held from 1-3 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Burial is private. To leave online condolences, please visit www.Leetestevens.com
