Bernard Westerman Recknagel, Jr., 68, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Peace on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare. He was born on November 24, 1952, in Norwalk, CT, the loving son to the late Bernard Recknagel, Sr., and Nancy Leineiger. Bernard grew up in Wilton, CT, and moved to East Granby in the early 1990's to help care for his father. He lived the life he chose very privately. He enjoyed a career for many years with Norwalk Hospital and later became a stock market trader where he was very successful for over 30 years. Bernard was a great collector of matchbox cars, baseball cards, and other various items. Bernard is survived by two sisters, Jody T. Rowlands of CO and Nancy T, Hargis and her husband, Jimmy of VA; nieces and nephews, Carey Adler and her husband, Bryan of CO, Maggie Berndsson and her husband, Kim, of Sweden, and CJ Hargis and his wife, Christina of MD; and cousins, Ty Recknagel of VA, Charles Recknagel of Prague, and Roger Broome of VA. Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in memory of Bernard may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
