Obituary for Bertha E Thibodeau (Naples)

Bertha E. Thibodeau, 95, of Enfield, passed peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on Monday, Sept. 12. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Thibodeau, who passed in 2013. They were married for 62 years.

Bertha was born in Hartford. After marrying, she moved to Enfield in 1959. Bertha had a sharp mind and gift for numbers and eventually became the credit office manager at G. Fox & Co.'s Enfield store and was later the ticket comptroller at The Big E. She was modest, reserved, and always put the needs of others above herself.

Bertha earned her GED in Enfield and even learned small engine repair so she could maintain the lawnmower. Yard work, caring for plants, was her passion and favorite form of exercise. She remained very active up until the last several years. Bertha, especially in the 1960s, was a champion duckpin bowler and held the high score record at the Somersville lanes, which was never broken.

She leaves two children, Patrick Thibodeau II, Nancy T. Maxa, and her companion John Sarno, all of Enfield; her grandson Michael T. Maxa and his companion Maggie Scofield of Enfield. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Naples, and her father, Frank Naples. Bertha was also predeceased by two sisters, Julie Casabella and Marie Valentine.

Bertha's family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. Calling hours will close with a prayer service. Burial will private at the convenience of the family. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com.
