Obituary for Carl Laurence Lindsey

Carl Laurence Lindsey, 87, of Somers, beloved husband of Betty (Whitaker) Lindsey, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born in Fitzgerald, GA on July 25, 1935, son of the late Leon and Vera (McVey) Lindsey. Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He went on to work for the federal government for a career spanning over 50 years. Outside of work, Carl enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors, taking hunting trips to his cabin in PA, and watching the Washington Redskins and UCONN Women’s basketball. He was a faithful member of Somers Baptist Church. Carl will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, and for his grateful sentiment, “Thanks for the opportunity” to folks whose lives he touched.

In addition to his beloved wife Betty, he is survived by his children, Marguerite “Margo” Schlotterbeck and her husband Joe of WV, Paul Lindsey and his wife Jill of IL, and Gregory Lindsey and his wife Debbie of VA; his stepchildren, William Galbraith and his wife Renee of Somers and Lois Martin and her husband Dennis of GA; and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his late wife Eugenia Lindsey; his brothers, Leon, Billy, and George; and his sister Bobbie.

Carl’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, August, 12, 2022 at the Somers Baptist Church, Battle Street, Somers. A funeral service will be celebrated at the church on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11 am. Burial with military honors will follow in Somers Old West Cemetery.
