Obituary for Charlene C. Bride

Charlene C. Bride, 86, of Enfield, beloved wife of Joseph Bride, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, surrounded by family. Born in Houlton, Maine on January 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elwyn and Helen (Bragan) Carpenter. As a girl growing up in a small town, she had dreams of moving to the ‘big city’. After high school, Charlene and her best friend packed their things and headed for jobs and a new life at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Charlene found more than a job, she found Joseph. They married and settled in Enfield where they built a beautiful life and raised a loving family. Charlene and Joseph would have celebrated their 65th anniversary in April. Charlene had many interests over her life but nothing compared to the love she had for her family and friends. She was fiercely loved in return.
Besides her husband Joseph of Enfield, she leaves 5 children, Kathy Bedard and her husband David of Weare, NH, Lorie Moskal and her husband Len of Holyoke, MA, David Bride of Enfield, Michael Bride and his wife Grace Beckett of Enfield, and John Bride of Agawam; 6 grandchildren, Timothy (Heather), Michael, Sarah (Stefan), Kevin (Bridget), Jessica (Shay), and Jacob; 2 siblings, Elwyn Carpenter, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Houlton, ME, and Jackie Dudley and her husband Warren of Greenville, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special canine companion, Penny. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son-in-law Terry Ruthelford, and a sister, Norma Devoe.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, February 21, from 11 am – 12 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, with a Service at 12 pm. Burial will be private.
The family would like to thank Charlene’s many caregivers in the past months and years for the kind and compassionate care she received.
