Obituary for Chester "Chet" G. Blair

Chester G. "Chet" Blair, 88 of Enfield, passed away at home, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022. The only son of the late Chester and Elizabeth (Brockie) Blair, Chet was born in Springfield and had lived in Enfield since 1963 where he was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church. He was a past member of the St. Patrick's Parish Council and was a former Eucharistic Minister. He was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama and later earned an MEd. He was formerly employed by the Enfield Public Schools teaching at Hazardville Memorial from 1956-1963 and later taught Language Arts at Enfield High School from 1963 until his retirement in 1994. For 28 years, Chet served as the Athletic Faculty Manager. In his younger years, he served in the Air Force Reserves. He kept busy in his retirement by working part-time for several years at Leete-Stevens Family Funeral Homes, and travelling to Florida for the winter. Chet enjoyed smoking his favorite cigars and driving his Cadillac whichever direction he pointed it.
He is survived by two nieces, Linda Anderson of Wimauma, FL, Nancy Ann Engelhart of North Augusta, SC, a nephew, Mark Anderson of North Augusta, SC, a grand nephew, Joseph Ramsey of Wimauma, FL. Chet was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Anderson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 with one hour of visitation from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield.
