Obituary for David J. Valuckas

David John "Dave" Valuckas, 85, of Enfield, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Angell-Losey) Valuckas passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, and brother. The son of the late Kostantos J. (Sparky) Valuckas and Mary M. (Stanevich) Valuckas, Dave was born in Waterbury, CT on September 21, 1937. Following High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably in the Strategic Air Command. He was a resident of the Enfield Community for 60 years and worked for the Traveler’s Insurance Corporate Communications Department, retiring as an Art Director after 30 years.
He had a passion for science, music, tennis, hiking, gardening, and loved entertaining family and friends with his classic chili and BBQ chicken. He enjoyed playing Santa for his grandchildren and was an avid UCONN women’s basketball and NY Yankees fan.

Besides his wife Elizabeth, He leaves his children and stepchildren, Mary & Paul Sikand of Ballston Spa, NY, Laura and Christopher Gardner of Manchester, NH, Patricia and William Morgan, of Indian Trail, NC, Eric Valuckas of Manchester, NH, Christopher and Christine Valuckas of Manteca, CA, Richard and Sharon Losey of Lavon, TX, Robert Losey of Enfield, CT, Peter and Paulina Losey of Goshen, CT, his grandchildren, Arielle Woods, Colin Morgan, Parker Sikand, Alexandria Lilly, Hannah Valentine, Audrey Morgan, Samantha Valuckas, Lennox Valuckas, Sean Gallagher, his great granddaughter, Evelyn Lilly, his siblings, Barbara Valuckas, Judith Valuckas, Thomas Valuckas and Michael Valuckas all of Watertown, CT, Timothy and Polly Valuckas of E. Litchfield, CT, and Peter and Frieda Valuckas of Puyallup, WA. Dave will also be missed by his many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Dave was predeceased by brothers John Valuckas, Richard Valuckas, Stepson Linc Losey, and Son-in-law William Gallagher.
We will forever treasure the happy times. A giant with a gentle soul who was loved by all and who loved his family more than anything.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Celebration of Life will be held on a later date.
