Obituary for Donald Sawyer
Donald Sawyer (58) passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, April 23rd 2021. Donald was born on March 26th, 1963 to Norman Sawyer and Maryann Dunganier Sawyer. Donald was born and raised in Enfield, CT with his two sisters, Sharon and Debra. Donald could usually be found doing one of a few things, volunteering at Loaves and Fishes food pantry, fishing at the Connecticut River, or watching an old Western movie. Donald was a selfless and kind hearted man who would drop anything to help anyone - whether that be a family member or a complete stranger.
Donald leaves behind his daughter, Shannon Sawyer and her fiancé, Daniel Peruccio; his older sister Sharon McCarthy, his younger sister, Debra Thome; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer McCarthy-Lemons and her husband Shane Lemons, Shawn McCarthy, Matthew Strumpfler and his fiancé, Rebecca Lavoie; and his grand nieces, Alice McCarthy and Dorothy Lemons.
A few pieces of advice that Donald always gave his daughter, Shannon, was to ‘never be too busy making a living that you forget to make a life’ and ‘always put others before yourself’. May Donald be remembered for these words and his compassionate nature. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Enfield Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, PO Box 544, Enfield, CT 06082, where Donald often volunteered. A private celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
