Obituary for Edward J. Hayden

Edward J. Hayden, 92, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Albano) Hayden, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. Born in Enfield, CT on June 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Frigon) Hayden and was a lifelong Enfield resident. Edward served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. He went on to work for Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years in the Security department before retiring. He always kept busy with a project and didn’t sit still long. He truly did life his way. His life of service continued after the Navy as a Volunteer Firefighter for North Thompsonville Fire District. A dedicated Veteran, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be missed by many family members and friends. He leaves his 2 loving daughters, Donna Szewczak and her husband, Richard, Karen Prague and her husband, the late Cary Prague; as well as Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to Thomas Szewczak, David Prague and Connor and Lily Prague, Elizabeth (Szewczak) Hennessey and her husband John, and Riley and Keegan Hennessy, Jeffrey Prague and his wife Meghan and Kailey Prague, and Alexander Prague. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Edward and his late wife Kathleen on Wednesday, August 31, at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Enfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
