Obituary for Ellen J. Schook (Tourigny)
Ellen J. Schook, 62, of Enfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Born in Holyoke, MA, on October 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Whelihan) Tourigny, she grew up in Holyoke before moving to Enfield. Ellen’s greatest accomplishment was being a mother to not only her biological children but to anyone in need of a mother for a day, a week, a year, or a lifetime. Countless neighborhood kids called her Ma, Mom, or Meme. She took great pride and joy in shaping the lives of the youth around her; a job she did with love, compassion, mercy, and grace. She loved cooking for everyone and anyone who came to her house could recount hundreds of hours of stories she loved to tell.
She leaves hundreds of kids, but specifically her 2 daughters, Amanda Schook and her husband Efrain Parrilla-Merced, and Katelyn Schook and her wife Kristina Johnson; 4 grandchildren, Efrain “Tres”, Aubree “Aubs” Michaud, Gavriella, and Shelby; her sister, Judy Tourigny; her nephew, James Tourigny; and her lifelong companion and best friend, Michael Schook.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, from 5-7 PM with a short service taking place at 6:45 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd. Enfield. Burial will be private for the family. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com.
