Obituary for George A. Drapeau

George A. Drapeau, 84, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Patricia (Krupa) Drapeau, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA, on November 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Homer Drapeau and Antoinette Pruneau. He grew up in Hartford, before moving to Windsor Locks after marrying his beloved wife, Patricia, in 1961. George joined the US Air Force in 1957 and he served between the US Air National Guard and US Air Force for 39 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement, he went on to work for Park Plaza at the Airport, a job he loved for many years until they closed. George loved working with his hands. He was an accomplished woodworker and mechanic. He could often be seen tinkering with bikes, cars and anything that had a motor! In his later years he found joy in researching and building models of military aircraft. He loved a nice glass of Cabernet or a Bourbon and Diet Coke, but his greatest love was his wife, Patricia, of 62 years. We are all going to miss you Dad, Grandpa, and George so very much!
George loved being surrounded by his family. He leaves 4 children, Cherie Seaha of Windsor Locks, Christine Cullen and her husband Edward of South Windsor, Guy Drapeau and his wife DeAnna of Rocky Hill, and Steven Drapeau and his wife Lauren of Rocky Hill; 12 adored grandchildren, Vincent (Valerie) Seaha, Alexandra (Luis) Vazquez, Nathan Seaha, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Michael, and Mackenzie Cullen, Jackson and Ryleigh Drapeau, and Lilyana, Braden, and Jacob Drapeau; and 2 great-grandchildren, Joseph Seaha and Evangeline Vazquez. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Joseph Seaha, and 3 siblings, Joseph, Paul, and Claire.
His family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St. Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 16 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, Spring St., Windsor Locks. Please meet directly at the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks.
